Welcome to Clooncunny Cottage

Two hours from Dublin, Clooncunny cottage is a sunny, cosy, traditional cottage with half an acre of garden, and three acres of  meadow with lake access.

It is half a mile from Lough Annaghmore, where the Irish record rudd was caught. It is hidden among the hills and lakes of Co. Roscommon. There are winding lanes, big trees, wild rushy lakes, spectacular coarse fishing, and Roscommon's only mountain, Sliabh Bán (pronounced Shleeve Bawn) nearby for a breathtaking view of 13 counties and all four provinces.

Four miles away is Strokestown, an attractive and exceptionally friendly little town with all the amenities, including 10 pubs. It even has its own visitor attraction - Strokestown Park House with its world-famous walled garden. Roscommon town, Longford, Boyle and Carrick-on-Shannon are all within a thirty minute drive from the cottage.

The house is a typical, traditional, stone-built cottage which has recently been converted into a warm, bright home, ideally suited to a couple. It still has its old-fashioned feel - the inside is colour-washed timber cladding - but is spacious, sunny and civilised. Heating is by night-storage heaters and solid fuel stove.

The main room is open plan, with a solid fuel stove and sitting room area at one end, and the dining area at the other. A flight of steps leads up to a loft-style gallery, which provides an extra bedroom if necessary. Three children have fitted in there before now!

The double bedroom has a night storage heater.

The kitchen is basic but well-designed, with a (bottle) gas cooker, fridge etc.

The bathroom has lavatory, wash basin and shower. There is a large airing cupboard, with the immersion heater in it. It has underfloor heating  so it is always warm and cosy.
